Ensure that it is covered

To protect your new tattoo from extreme conditions and also from infections, make sure that it is well covered. Petroleum jelly and a clean bandage will give you the required protection. The tattooed areas should stay covered for at least twenty four hours before removing the bandage and gently washing the area. It is recommended that lukewarm water and antiseptic soap should be used when cleaning the area. The cleaning process should be repeated regularly while ensuring that the tattooed area is kept moisturized. Repeating this process for at least two to three weeks will ensure that the tattooed are heals faster and completely. You should avoid scratching the area and also ensure that your hands are clean anytime you are touching the tattoo, this keeps you away from infections.

Wear loose clothes

Wearing tight clothes may cause friction in the tattooed area wearing off the tattoo. Also, it may also lengthen the healing period.

Do not peel off

Sometimes you may find the tattoo scabs a little and gets some hard layers. While this may be worrying, you are assured that it is quite normal. However do not be tempted to scratch it, doing this risks infection or completely removing the color. If you are worried that you have some infection or the area is not healing well, perhaps it’s time to consult your doctor.

Even after the tattoo heals completely, you will need to continue taking good care of it, if you want it to remain as shiny as it was on the first day. While this may not be completely achieved, applying sunscreen and avoiding direct sun exposure may help keep the tattoo shiny. Also, remember to moisturize the area daily especially when it is an area where it can fade easily.
