3 important Tips to Shape up This Spring

Although staying in shape should be a year-round activity, sometimes we are forced to slow down due to weather, sickness, busy schedules, or other obstacles. Spring is the best time to shake off the dust and hit the road because the weather is perfect, and the mood is just right. It is a period when we can rejuvenate, get back on track and meet our objectives set at the beginning of the year. Here are a few tips to help you get back on track and shape up this spring.
Get out the door
You may spend most of your time indoors during the winter but now it is brightening up, temperatures are rising, and the weather is just right for a number of activities that will help you get in shape. Take advantage and get outside. You can try biking, running, or swimming, among other outdoor activities. Engage in interval workouts on the soccer field, get in the water and engage in activities that will leave your heart pumping, muscles stretched, and body refreshed. Weight lifting can form part of your strength training routine and so can learning new exercises such as Pilates, barre, or yoga, among others. Start slowly, and increase gradually so that your body will not complain and each day you will want to go back for more, making it a routine for the whole of the spring season and beyond.
Have a plan
Now that you are in the mood and have established that you need this, make a plan that will help you do things in a coordinated manner. Look at the big picture, ask yourself why you need to stay in shape and make a plan based on your answer. You may have added a lot of weight that you want to shed, or maybe you just want to stay fit. Depending on your goals, make a plan that will help you achieve them and that fit the weather, time and resources available. If you want to achieve your goals, make a plan early and set achievable targets. But make sure you have a balance because setting low targets will result in you failing to achieve your goals while very high targets can demotivate you and make you fail early on.
Mind your body
Make sure you take care of your body and do not get engage in workouts that might lead to injury. Eat proper meals from a well-balanced diet to ensure that your body is well nourished and drink an adequate amount of water.
