1. Go easy

Your body should be ready to take on exercises that you are planning to do. To start with, take it slowly. Exercising regularly is meant to benefit your body, not punish it! Start with a 30-minute jog or a brisk 20-minute walk. If you cannot go out, work on a stationary bike while listening to some great music! Enjoy exercising!

2. Fix up a time

Aim to workout at a fixed time every day. Commit yourself and plan your time. If you are a morning person, fix up a time in the morning or if evenings are convenient, plan it accordingly.

3. Realistic goals

Let your goals be realistic. Do not expect to lose weight in a week. Your body has gained weight over a period of time and it can only lose weight gradually. Having unrealistic goals and trying to achieve them too quickly may make you ill. So be careful! Set smaller goals which will be easy to reach.

4. Do not compare

Each individual is different and everybody responds differently to different exercises. Do not make the mistake of comparing yourself to others. Focus on your fitness program and never miss your workouts.

5. Add variety

Doing the same exercises and the same routine can become tiresome and boring. Try to add a bit of a variety into your routine and your week. Swim for 2 days in a week, jog and walk for another couple of days and then cardio workouts can be planned for the remaining days. Break monotony!

6. Rest

It's OK to take a day off! Give your muscles a rest. Rest is just as important as exercising as your body needs time to recover. Set a day aside as a rest day and make a point of not skipping on any other day. Be consistent and you can celebrate your results!

7. Top priority

Make exercising a top priority. Routinely note down the workouts you do every day, otherwise you may get complacent and forget what you need to do. Make it a priority and you will certainly find time to do what you need to do.

8. Observe the progress

Exercising definitely helps. You will have increased energy levels and will be focused on what you need to do. You will feel happy for your body which will help you to continue your fitness program with more enthusiasm.

9. Hire a coach

If you are totally new to fitness programs, it is highly recommended that you hire a professional trainer. He They will be able to guide you best on what workouts are suitable to your body and how to go about it in the correct manner. You also get much needed motivational support; which is crucial when first starting out.

10. Pay for fitness

Join a club or gym and you can be certain of making exercising a habit. When you pay your hard earned money you will have more enthusiasm and you will definitely not ignore the fitness program.

Weight loss should not be your only goal. Ensure you eat well and get plenty of rest so that your nutrition and health is not compromised.
