1. Cut Off the Moisture

You need to cut the moisture from your vegetables and fruits. Wrap them in a paper towel and then put them in their container. The towel absorbs all of the moisture while also keeping the contents cool.

2. Wrap the Stalk of Bananas

Bananas get ruined by refrigerators and quickly turn black. To preserve them and keep them good, you need to keep the bananas at room temperature and wrap the stalks of the bananas to keep it from molding.

3. Store some Vegetable Slices in Water

A great method of preserving certain vegetables such as celery and carrots is by keeping them in water. Simply peel them and slice them before putting the pieces in water for preservation.

6. Select the Warmer Part of the Refrigerator

Fruits and vegetables lose both their freshness and their aroma if kept at low temperatures. They keep their consistencies the best at generally warm temperatures. So try to keep them in the warmest part of the refrigerator.

7. Arrange the Food Appropriately

Some fruits and vegetables such as mangoes, bananas, and tomatoes give off ethylene once they ripen. The ethylene can act as a major irritant to some fruits and vegetables such as apples, potatoes, and broccoli. So arrange them appropriately in a refrigerator.

8. Store Onions and Potatoes Separately

If you happen to store the two of them together, the onions can end up growing shoots because of the interaction. This makes them inedible and leads to a loss of good onions.

9. Make Use of the Dark

Some vegetables love the dark. Two very common ones are potatoes and garlic. Keep the two in paper bags and place them in some places that do not see a lot of light.

10. Ensure Airflow

The fruits and vegetables you store at room temperature need to receive constant airflow for them to keep the amount of moisture they require. Moreover, the airflow keeps them fresh and doesn’t let them mold as quick as they would.
