Basic homemade shampoo

What you need:

  • Water
  • Castile liquid soap
  • Glycerine or light vegetable oil
  • Two or three drops of essential oil (this is optional)

These ingredients are mixed together and put in a bottle. You only need a palm full of shampoo to clean your head and make sure you rinse using warm water. One thing you may notice with homemade shampoo is that it is thinner and does not lather as much as commercial products. However, it is effective in eliminating oil and grime, just like the type you would buy at the drugstore. The main difference between the two is that you are assured of its safety since all the ingredients are natural.

Herbal homemade shampoo

If you are looking for scented shampoo, you can use scented castile soap, strong herbal tea, rosemary, chamomile, and lavender. This will give you naturally scented shampoo.

Homemade Conditioner using egg yolk

Requirements:

  • An egg yolk, a teaspoon of olive oil, a warm cup of water.

How to use it:

You will need to mix the ingredients by beating the egg yolk until its frothy, then add oil and water. The mixture should be poured over wet hair, spreading it well using the fingers and then allowing it to set for a number of minutes. You should then rinse your head using warm water.

Deep conditioner

If you have dry or damaged hair, application of a deep conditioner at least one time a week will see the hair soft once again. Olive oil, egg yolks, coconut oil, mayonnaise, avocado or mashed banana can be used alone or as a mixture. The hair should be massaged while wet using any of the above ingredients. You should then wrap it up using a towel or a turban for at least half an hour and then rinse the hair using warm water. Repeating this process at least once a week will give you good results and make a huge difference, all by using homemade, natural and cost-effective products.
